REVIEW: Bobbie Cosmetics retractable eyebrow pencil

A girl can never have enough eyebrow products. I myself am always looking for new products that could possibly be of holy grail status. I have a few favorites but I dont think I found "the one". I first heard of this brand from Say Tioco on YouTube when she did a full face review of Bobbie Cosmetics. I've been wanting to get my hands on the concealer but I never found the brand anywhere during that time. After a few months, my family and I went to SM hypermart in Tiendesitas to do our groceries. While waiting for my parents to pay, I went to Watsons to buy facial wipes then I came across a Bobbie Cosmetics counter, FINALLY!!!!

As I said, I wanted to try the concealer so that was the first thing I tested. The whole counter literally screamed pink and it was too cute to just try out one product. After I picked out a concealer shade, I was intrigued by the eyebrow pencil because it looked like the one from Etude House. I swatched it on the back of my hand and I was impressed!!! It was so pigmented and the product wasnt hard to use. I got the shade grey brown and I'm currently on my 4th pencil!

Here's a photo:

PROs:
  • Very affordable at 119 pesos!
  • Dries to a matte finish
  • Not hard to use  and the texture isnt too creamy (just how I like it)
  • The shade I got matches me perfectly
  • Lasts me a good 5-6 hours!

CONs:
  • They only have 2 shades
  • I dont like the shape of the product! After a few uses, it gives you thick streaks so you really have to use a light hand
  • Not yet readily available everywhere

I honestly wasnt expecting this product to be a favorite because I've never tried anything from their brand so I have nothing to base it on. But it turned out to be the eyebrow pencil I've been reaching for almost everyday! I probably use this more than my Etude House since it's cheaper and I find that the shade I got suits the color of my brows! A must try!

TOP 5 FAVORITE FACE POWDERS

This is the second part of my "Top 5 favorites" series! This time, on my favorite powders!

If you take a look at my make-up collection, you would probably get shocked at how many face powders I own. I do have oily skin and one way to control the oil is by applying powder. Yes I admit, I do hoard powders because I feel like I can't get enough hahaha is that normal? Okay let's start

For my first favorite, I think you guys know what it is already! It's the Rimmel Stay Matte!

Photo from: www.hellojaa.com

This is probably one of the most raved about face powders I know. From international beauty gurus to local gurus, this is probably one of the most featured because of its longevity on your face. I've had this powder for years now and it still looks pretty okay! It keeps me matte for a good amount of time. I don't put this under my eyes though because it makes it look cakey and nobody wants that. It does settle into my lines but that doesn't affect me as long as it keeps me matte! Its scent doesnt bother me as well. I got the shade translucent so it could go with either a lighter or darker foundation. Price of this here in the Philippines ranges from 300-450 depending on where you buy.

My second favorite is the Sephora 8hr Mattifying Compact Powder Foundation

Photo from: www.tonguechic.com

Sephora isn't available in the Philippines yet so I asked my dad to get this for me when he was in Singapore. This wasnt actually what I wanted but this was what my dad got so I just used it anyway hahaha little did I know, this powder is going to be one of the staples in my make up routine. During the first few months since I got it, this was literally what I used everyday! I used it both as my foundation (I used a damp sponge and applied it wet) then set it with the powder itself because it was so good. It lasted on my face but not 8 hours like it promised. It also does a good job in mattifying my face! All in all a good powder but nothing that will blow your mind. Price is 950 pesos!

For my third favorite, it would have to be my MAC Studio Fix.

Of course this would be in my favorites! I'm still a student so I had to save up for this since I didnt want to ask from my parents since it's not really a need. Definitely an investment but reading all the reviews, I just had to get one for myself. I actually got two shades.. NC35 and NC40 since I wasnt sure what shade I was and I assumed that if I mix them together, I'd get the perfect shade. This powder is amaaazing! Coverage wise, I think this is the best in the market. You dont need that much because the powder itself is so pigmented already. The lasting power on my face is incomparable to other powders I've tried. If I could just pick one favorite powder, this would be it. Price here in the Philippines would range from 1200-1600 depends on where you buy it but I got it for 1,600 pesos!

Fourth favorite would be the 4U2 Lovelight BB Powder SPF 15 PA ++

I remember getting this powder in the most random way! I was in line already to pay my items in the SM department store and this girl in front of me bought about 4-5 pieces of this powder and she was talking about how good it was and how she never finds it in the mall near her so she hoarded. I was so intrigued because I mean how can a product that looks like that be so amazing. So I looked for 4U2 and asked the saleslady for a new stock. I got mine in the shade 03. I tried it for the first time when I got home that time and it mattified my face immediately! The 03 shade is actually a tad bit dark for me but that's okay since this is what I use when I put on a lighter foundation so it'd be balance. This also lasts me a good amount of hours and it's not cakey!! It also smells good (for me) so that's a plus! It's also really affordable at 299! I'm currently on my 4th pan of this powder!

For my last favorite, it would be the Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder!

I got this powder after a few weeks of using my Colorstay foundation. I thought that the foundation was so amazing that if I put this on top, my make up wouldnt move throughout the day! This powder did not disappoint and it my foundation really stay put when I had this on. I actually compared this to my Studio Fix powder since it looks pretty similar shade wise. I don't oil up as much with this powder but even when I do, it still looks good as if nothing happened. Probably one of the best ones at the drugstore! Price is usually 600 when you buy it in malls!

That's it for my top powder favorites! Hope this helps!!

TOP 5 FAVORITE FOUNDATIONS

This is going to be a series wherein I list down and describe my top 5 favorites may it be foundation, mascara, eye shadow palette, blush etc. Hopefully, I get to do as much as 10 categories for this series! So today, I decided to do a list of my top 5 favorite foundations because I mean everyone loves foundation. This is going to be a variety of powder foundation and liquid as well. I do have oily skin so some products I will be mentioning may not work on you as it has worked on me.

So for my first favorite, it would have to be the Revlon Colorstay. For this foundation, I am in the shade Warm Golden. I'm sure most of you guys have seen it but here's a photo:

Here's a swatch:

I loooove this foundation! This has been my holy grail for years and years and years now! There are a few foundations now that could possibly replace this but this will still hold a place in my heart (WHAT) because it was the first ever foundation I used. It suits my oily skin well and its longevity on my skin is amazing! It can last me a hot, sweaty and busy day! It actually even looks better once I have it on longer together with sweat hahaha but seriously! If I know that I'll have a long day ahead of me, this is definitely the foundation I will use! Price would range from 800-900 pesos but you can buy it for a cheaper price online.

For my second favorite, it would have to be the Maybelline Liquid Dream Mousse!

Photo from: picarcade.com

I've gone through 2 bottles of this foundation already and I think that says a lot about how amazing this foundation is. I was a bit skeptic at first because the saleslady who was assisting us that time told me that she had this on and it lasted her a long time but she had dry skin! I'm really oily so I cant just trust her and think that this would last me even a few hours. What sold me was the texture of the foundation. It had like a mousse texture (Ya that's probably why they called it dream liquid mousse hahahah) and mousse-y textures usually look good on my skin so after deliberating on whether I should buy this or not, I finally caved in and bought it! I was so happy when I got home and tried it!! It looked like my foundation was airbrushed!!! It looked so good!!! Doesn't last as long as my Colorstay would but okay na! Probably 4-5 hours til I oil up. Super love the finish! Price: 600-650 pesos.

Third favorite is a local! Fanny Serrano Two-Way Cake!

This foundation has changed the powder foundation game locally since some people say that it could be a possible dupe to the Mac Studio fix powder. I didnt want to buy this at first because I thought it was a bit too pricey for a local product since most powder foundations in the drugstore would normally cost 150-250 pesos and this was priced at 399 pesos! But after trying it out, I could say that it really is worth the price. It lasts me a long time without retouching and I really like the scent of the powder itself! It smells like newly baked vanilla cake hahahah! This is highly suggested for people with oily skin! Coverage wise, I suggest you use a damp sponge to get maximum coverage but even if you use it as is with a brush, I think the coverage is still pretty good.

Fourth favorite foundation is Covergirl & Olay Tone Rehab 2in1 foundation!

Photo from: makeupforlife.net

This will always be in one of my favorites because I remember getting this foundation on my birthday! Not as a present or anything hahah i just really wanted to buy new make up and this was new that time so I decided to try it since I love Covergirl anyway. This foundation is probably the darkest shade of foundation I have. I am in the shade Warm beige. I usually have to set it with a powder that's lighter than my skin tone to match it up. Hate the fact that I always have to do that but this foundation is too good not to use! Lasts all day and the consistency is pretty thick but wow super blendable! Feels lightweight on the skin like literally nothing's on your face!! Highly recommended for oily skin as well! I've had this foundation for about 2-3 years but the bottle still looks like it has more product than what's actually left! Love the scent the Olay gives it it as well! Definitely a must try!!!! Price is 800+ if I remember it correctly.

So for the last and final favorite.. It's the Phytogenic Infinite Ex Foundation spf 20 PA++ from TheFaceShop!

Photo from TheFaceShop website

I've done a separate review for this product so just check that out in case you havent. But to give you a gist, this foundation has been used non stop since I got it! The texture is okay, the scent is the typical foundation scent and the staying power on my skin is amazing! Read more from my previous post about this! Price is 825 pesos!

So that is it for my top 5 favorite foundations! Next up will probably be my favorite powders! Look out for that! Til next time :-)

REVIEW: Seche Vite fast dry topcoat

If you've known me long enough, you would know that I love everything related to nails! I've been doing my own nails since high school and the obsession never stopped. I would literally go to the mall wanting only one nail color and I'd end up going home with 7-10 different colors in hand hahah!

Finding the perfect top coat is a struggle. I've always loved my Sally Hansen gel top coat but I never see it in Megamall where I usually buy it so I opted for the Essence quick dry top coat. The Essence one was 'okay lang' but nothing compared to my Sally Hansen one. But since I couldnt find it anymore, I went on the internet and googled best topcoats and I came across Seche Vite! This product has been in the market for a looong long time and I've heard of it already but I never joined the bandwagon because there are a lot of topcoats that dry fast but are priced at a way cheaper price so I never tried it. But when I saw it on instagram.com/polishplease_ph for a way cheaper price than what I would normally have to pay when I buy it in malls, I immediately grabbed the opportunity! I got it for around 300 pesos but if you buy it in malls it would cost around 400-500 pesos, maybe even 600!

This is what the packaging looks like:

Photo from www.askmewhats.com

I tried it immediately when I got home and I was surprised that it took about 30-40 seconds to dry!!!!! Wow probably the fastest any topcoat could go! I thought that it would take the same times as my Essence quick dry which would take 2-4 minutes to dry but no... 30 seconds!! I'm so impressed! This is definitely going to be a staple in my nail routine from now on. If you love doing your nails but have no patience when it comes to waiting for them to try before you could do other things, you NEED to try this. Definitely changed the topcoat game!
